Snowmass is located just nine miles (15 km) from downtown Aspen, connected by a frequent shuttle during the day which is free and a small charge from around 5pm.About the best resort in the world for bed to ski options, as 90 percent of Snowmass accommodations are ski-in, ski-out. Snowmass has a superb new village area, as well as the older “mall” area, whilst still offering the whole gamut of downhill experiences from gentle cruisers to scary steeps. In fact you will find the greatest diversity of terrain among the four Aspen areas, here on Snowmass, the biggest by far of the four Aspen mountains. With plenty of beginner trails, steep expert runs, wide open cruisers, endless moguls, terrain parks and half-pipes, Snowmass has a little bit of something for everyone…and more.

Snowmass is the second largest mountain resort in Colorado and with approx 240km, including glades, cruisers and bumps as well as three terrain parks and a halfpipe. It would be hard not find a perfect trail no matter your ability level. And as for getting up the slopes Snowmass has the longest lift-served vertical rise in the United States. This is a must see, must ski resort, with a superb snow record.

The skiing or boarding is suitable for all levels of skier. There are areas set aside for complete beginners, so they can learn in comparative safety. The Headwall is for the brave or foolhardy, but on the front side of the mountain there are some runs that must be amongst the best ever.Take the Big Burn lift and take a trip down Sneakys ,Dallas Freeway or Micks Gully, stopping to admire the Maroon Bells then fly over to Alpine Springs and down around 6km to the new base village.Awesome.Even better in fresh powder which is fortunately often!Check out the short climb up into Long Shot and sample some stunning, tree line powder skiing, at its best,The longest run is a thigh burning 8.5km

Snowmass as mentioned now has a a relatively newish village located at the bottom of the Elk Camp gondola. The new “Convenience style, family friendly, mixed-use pedestrian village” features shops, restaurant and high end lodging. In an era when so many new planned base village developments feel cold and stark, Snowmass village is welcome. The shops and restaurants are unique, different and creative. Kids (and kids at heart) should not miss The Sweet Life. During the day, the downstairs offers an unparalleled selection of candy and ice cream, while at night, the upstairs transforms into a nightspot serving up sweet adult libations. Also be sure to check out Junk, a casual restaurant where the ambiance is provided by various forms of junk such as bent silverware chandeliers and bar stools which face cases of discarded legos and toy cars. The village is now the centerpiece of Snowmass and offers a good experience but the main apres ski and nightlife is still in Aspen.

Snowmass offers family-friendly skiing and continuing improvements are being made to the Family Zone on Snowmass. New interactive kids’ trails have been added to the current kids’ facilities that include a picnic shelter, training gates and sculpted moguls. Additionally, Snowmass has kids tree runs complete with humorous signs, a fake gold mine, and life size cutouts of rangers, miners, and animals! The Trenchtown terrain park at Snowmass, runs from the top to bottom of the Coney Glade lift. The gem of Snowmass’ children’s’ programs, however is is the Treehouse Kids Adventure Centre. Located in the new base village, the Treehouse offers a fabulous and safe experience for kids with tubing seven days a week which is open until 8:00 pm. Leave your kids here all day to learn to ski and play..whilst you play. One of the best family choices in the world…plus you have Aspen Mountain, Aspen Highlands and Buttermilk/Tiehack on the same ski pass.So thats a big WOW!!!
