Heavenly is a top and popular ski resort on the West side of America and accessed by flying into Reno or San Francisco. One of the most memorable ski areas and with the mountains almost ending up in Lake Tahoe, such scenery is simply breathtaking. Yes Heavenly is a unique resort and more so as it straddles the border of Nevada and California. Fun time here is assured whether its skiing, snowboarding, exploring the fun casino town, or just driving round the beautiful lake.
The skiing in Heavenly is superb with plenty of runs with wide slopes between the trees, with enough space between them to additionally ski in and out of the trees with relative ease. When there’s fresh powder, it’s up on the lift to let rip and when it’s time to call it a day, it’s up to you whether to relax and enjoy the stunning beautiful views of Lake Tahoe or check out the lively downtown area.
As well as offering the fabulous views of Lake Tahoe in one direction and the striking views of the Nevada desert in the other, Heavenly’s slopes offer great options for all abilities. Beginners will love the easy green runs around Sky Deck. Experts will enjoy the steep Canyons area and intermediates can cruise around everywhere, dropping off the top ridge onto the blues and carving all the way down the Nevada side of the mountain….and if the huge ski area of Heavenly isn’t enough then nearby Kirkwood and Northstar, on the North side of the lake, are also included on the “Epic” ski pass.
With Heavenly being in South Lake Tahoe, there is a good choice of hotels and condos to suit any budget around the bottom of the Heavenly gondola and being a casino town there are lots of offers on hotel rooms. Larger chalets are also an option and we can offer a few catered chalets for groups of 6 or more too if you prefer, though eating out here can be a wonderful culinary experience.
After sunset, when the lights of this tinsel town glow bright, shows are offered at the casinos, with top entertainers, live music drifts down the streets and the paddle steamers fill up with fun seekers as they glide across the lake. It’s certainly not your average ski resort, but it’s certainly unique and is another must see and ski resort at least once in your lifetime and if flying into SanFrancisco why not consider a night or two there at the end of your holiday, just to round off this truly unique experience.
